Our Appointment

Today we had our appointment in Macon to check on the 2 vessel cord issue. Dr Boddy and his staff were great. The intake nurse went to VSU and worked at Southern OB. We had the ultrasound which took about 30 minutes, then we met with Dr Boddy. He said one of the major concerns with 2 vessel cord is growth, he said the baby was in the 40% percentile which is just below average so he felt good about that. He went over quite a bit of other things, then said the major concern was they did not see a stomach. He then told us every possible reason for this, blockage in the esophagus, a growth, muscular dystrophy, or down syndrome.

NOW lets just stop right here and say that I did have my panel of blood work done at Southern OB on DEC 18, do you think they sent a copy of that to him....NO....I tried to call them but of course they were closed today, don't worry they are my first call in the morning, while on that I also specifically asked the girl that called me with my appointment if I needed to get copies of my records from my Diabetes doctor, oh no she said they took care of that...needless to say the doctor in Macon had nothing from that doctor either.

Anyway, he said he wanted to redo the scan right then so we went back in with him and the tech did the scan and they did find what they think is a stomach, he said it should be 10x the size it is. He told us at this point you have 3 options, do an amnio right now, go home come back in 2 weeks for a rescan and an amnio, or do nothing. He said he recommends coming back so that is what we have decided to do. Once they do the amnio he said it takes about 2 weeks to get all results back, now that I think about it 4 weeks is a long time, but whatever it is there is nothing we can do to change it.

I think we were kind of stunned because we asked very few questions, so basically at this point this is all we know. I have looked on the internet but did not like what I saw so I stopped doing that.
